Railroad Police agencies seem to be slowly becoming a thing of the past, which is a travesty. For all of those who still serve to protect one of the main things that made America what it is today, and for all who preceded them, we, as a nation, owe our thanks.
Special Agent Scothorn, you faced a risk which all railroad police endure and tragically, lost your life. Every aspect of police work has it's risks but being a railroad cop adds the very real chance of being struck by a train. To know that risk is there and yet continue to go out and do your job makes you a true hero.
God Bless and may you forever Rest in Peace, Brother.

We cannot fully honor our heroes of the present without honoring our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 88th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. We shall never forget any of our heroes.
Rest In Peace.
