Reflections for Police Officer Richard G. Holland

Keep resting in peace, my brother. Until all of us who were there meet again.

Richie,

I remember it like yesterday, when I put out a 1085 for backup, near Elmhurst Hospital and Richie rushed to my aid.

A Gypsy cab was robbed and the two suspects fled to an abandoned home. Richie helped me go in at gun point and search for the suspects.

We checked the flooded basement at first. Then we searched the upstairs that was searched by others Officers, that couldn’t fine one of two suspects.

We searched a bedroom closet and under a pile of clothes, there was the a taxi robber hiding. Richie was my brother blue, and I can’t thank him enough for being there to watch my back.

My condolences to a great family. We all have to be thankful for the time we have had with him. And we will see him again and that great big smile and his famous singing voice.

Gid bless my brother. Hope you are resting in peace. I'm still here but many of our brothers and sisters have left to join you. I never know what's on the othet side of the door and, until then, I'm living and hope I'm not called yet.

It didn't surpise me to find out that you spent so much time working on the pile. Was heartbroken to hear of your passing. Thanks for all of the good advice. GOD bless and continue to Sleep in Peace, my District 20 friend.

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

I cannot thank you all enough for your thoughtful and kind reflections regarding my husband of 42 years. Our family still struggles with his absence but we know he is in our hearts everyday. I was not aware of this site but now that I know it exists, I will view it from time to time as well as encourage others who have lost a love one from this terrible tragedy. He loved his country, serving in the Army and love his job a NYPD Officer. Again I thank you all.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 3rd anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.
