On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when James was killed.

To the Foster family, fellow officers, and all who call James beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Foster gave to his community and the citizens of Louisiana, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on December 30, 2014

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Foster and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever.

To the family of Officer Foster, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you strength and comfort during this difficult time. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Foster is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family, and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

In this time of lack of respect for Police Officers and how the new media treats them, I for one am glad that the world was blessed to have such a man stand up for those who can't, go in the night willingly to take on evil, and in the end served as President Lincoln said, "With that last full measure of devotion...." Rest in peace and in the arms of our Lord.

On behalf of the Westerville, Ohio Division of Police, our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family of Police Officer James E. Foster, Jr. and the extended law enforcement family of the Denham Springs Police Department, Louisiana. Rest in Peace brother and watch over us.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.
