There are few professions that demand so much moral fiber as policing. Police stand in "harm's way" not so much against enemies with bullets but against enemies skilled in every form of trickery, deceit, feigned ignorance, and deception. That's why the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics published by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, stands as a spirited reminder to the higher order of this calling. Officer Charles Kondek, you will never know me. You and I have never met. I live in a totally different State, but what happened to you, could happen anywhere, at anytime, to those member of MY family in law enforcement. You are a HERO. You deserved to be respected as that. My heart breaks that you were not. It is true, both in my profession (Medicine) and yours (Law enforcement); this is a "calling". You answered your calling, and now have wings that can be seen. I grieve for you, and think of those you've left behind. Godspeed as you fly to Heaven on those angel wings.

Well dad. Our hearts are heavier. Our souls hurting. What do I say? Everything you stood for.
Everything you lived by. It’s all been shattered by hate. You taught me so much not just by your words, but by
your actions. You lived by example. Teaching us that humanity isn’t always at its best. But never to allow
that to stop us from behaving respectful, responsible and accountable. You wore your uniform with pride, and dignity. You brought so much more to it as well.
I miss you! But, in a sad way I’m thankful you
aren’t here to see the conditions effecting us as a society. I know as sure as I am sitting here that you have opened your arms to
the slain officers. That you will make every effort possible to ensure their families and fellow officers are wrapped in the loving
arms of angels. Thank you dad! Thank you for teaching me what being a true hero means. I miss you!
