A tragic loss on so many levels. Thank you for your service to our nation and to the communities in Pennsylvania where you served and protected. May God watch over your wife and child as he takes you straight away to Heaven, a place where you have more than earned you're a resting spot. I hope and pray and have confidence that your wife will fill your child with remembrances of you and because of that, you will never truly leave them.
God Bless and may you forever Rest in Peace, Brother.

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.
Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray, “Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, family and loving, caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name, Amen”
I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for the past three years. Feel those prayers. God is with you, He knows and will ease your pain.
Faith helps us see beyond the grave.

I was in the academy with Rich and we helped each other through it. He was an amazing person. We were in the academy when his son Tanner was born. That was the proudest day of his life. You could see it on his face!
I miss my friend.

Thoughts and prayers to the family, friends, Perryopolis Borough Police Department, and Derry Borough PD. Officer Champion is a hero whose life was taken too soon. Officer Richard Champion won't be forgotten as long as men and women put on the uniform to risk their lives to answer the call to keep our streets and country safe. On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Richard was killed.
To the Champion family, fellow officers, and all who call Richard beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Champion gave to his community and the citizens of Pennsylvania, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on December 14, 2014.
