It will be a very sad Thanksgiving for the family of Deputy Christopher Smith and for the Leon County Sheriff's Deputy as they mourn the loss of a brave deputy who lost his life battling a maniac who wanted to kill as many police officers, sheriff's deputies, and other public safety officials. A county mourns as does a family. Thanksgiving will not be the same without him this year and the years to come. This will be hard for those who will be celebrating the holiday and mourn at the same time.

Rest in peace brother. When others were running from the fire, you ran toward it, not knowing the fate you faced. Enjoy heaven and the spoils you deserve and we'll pray for your family. Florida L.E.O. will be there for them, and you as well sir.

Hope they don't bury the deceased gunman in a sweater, it's going to be extremely hot where he's headed.

Kudo's to T.P.D. and Leon S.O.
