The scum who murdered you was also responsible for the death of your wife. The information above does not mention what became of that individual, but I can only hope he faced true justice, if not in this life, then in the next.
You lost your life while protecting one of the reasons this nation is great today, it's railroads. You are truly a hero.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 84th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
