Office Payne was one of the most involved and caring officers you would ever meet. He set a standard for fellow officers and friends to admire both on and off duty. His gift to us all of us was respect and honor at all times. DUI takes the lives of people everyday, even those who try to catch them before more people are hurt or killed. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE! Be PROUD of people that make the ultimate sacrifice for all of us. Thank you all motors for the extra mile in danger. Officer Payne is a real HERO!

October has been a horrible month for law enforcement. Twelve Officers in October alone.

Officer Payne, you lost your life to someone who put themselves about all others, while you put others above yourself. You are a hero. May all who surround your child never let that child forget who you are and may they all keep you forever in their hearts and minds so that you will never truly be gone.

God Bless and may you forever Rest in Peace, Brother.

To David's family, fellow officers, and all who call David beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This must be such a terrible time as the Chandler Police Department suffered the loss of two of its finest. My heart aches also for the family of Office Robert Nielsen.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Payne gave to his community and the citizens of Arizona , and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on October 31, 2014.

A police officer should be remembered not by how he died, but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the Chandler Police Department. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother!

Dave was an excellent traffic officer, always helping out patrol with whatever they needed, and relentless in his pursuit of impaired drivers. Dave also helped with training, recently instructing a class I attended on "Below 100". Dave also served in the United States Military. What a tragic loss of a good man!
