Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Jesse Valdez, III

10/29/2014 is a day I will never forget. I learned about your passing while on a traffic stop on the other side of the county and felt helpless and felt my heart sink. For the near 10 years I knew you 7 of those we worked side by side in processing until we left for patrol. Memories of the time we spent together, the extra jobs we worked and the personal time we spent together will always have a special place in my heart. I will always miss you and reflect on our good memories. Watch over us from above while you patrol the golden gates of Heaven. Until we meet again one day, god bless you Brother.

To Jesse's family, fellow officers, and all who call Jesse
beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

I also hope Jesse's family, both blood and blue, get the full measure of justice deserved for the criminal taking of his life.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Deputy Valdez gave to his community and the citizens of Texas, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on October 29 2014.

My heart is broken and my soul is at a piont of unrest. I'm an ex-officer with 21 years under my belt. And even tho I'm no longer an officer. Every time I hear that a an officer is hurt, killed or in trouble it tears at my heart.

I pray for the love of our Lord to be with his mother and son. And that all the good times become a past time in conversation.

I believe that The Lord has a special place for officers. And that he will continue to protect and serve...... Just from another beat.

God bless.

Richard Cano
Ex-officer
