Deputy Sheriff Breeding,
On today, the 60th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army during World War II. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 49th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

My father, Donald Shaw was a Patrolman at the time and was with Deputy Breeding when he was shot by Dewey Barton.
They were serving a warrant on Barton and left the warrant on the dash of the car.
When they saw him my father went back to the car to get it when he heard 3 gunshots. The weapon was a .22 pistol.
Deputy Breeding was hit once in the chest, once in the left wrist and once in the back. Barton was arrested at around midnight and served 18 years in the Richmond state prison.
My father went on to serve both Honaker and Lebanon VA for 30 years, most of it as the Chief of Police. My father passed away in 1994 due to lung cancer.
Neither of these fine officers will ever be forgotton.

I never knew you. You would have been my great uncle. My son is very interested in the Police Department. I have heard alot about you from the family. You will always be remembered and never forgetten. I have passed the story on down to my children. Even though I am afraid, I will always respect the service that all Officers provide. Rest in Peace Great Uncle Eulis. You will NEVER be forgotten. Even by your long lost relatives!!!!
