For Officer Daryl Pierson:
Daryl is typical of the young and dedicated law-officer providing the public both safety and protection each day. A prime specimen of devotion to country is reflected in his military service and his continuing high risk to protect others in the wearing a badge. No situation appears to make these officers hesitate to act in accordance with their training. We regret that Daryl would be the next law-officer to lose his life in the course of fulfilling his sworn duty - to serve and to protect. We guarantee that his killer will be brought to justice as a nation of law-officers turn their eyes toward seeking his killer. We stand committed to one another now - and forever.
We pray for Daryl's family, co-workers, friends and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.
We are proud to render Officer Daryl Pierson, a soldier-of-the-law, a final salute.

I firmly believe that the Lord is guarding and comforting the Pierson family and the peer RPD officers and the hospital staff that worked tremendously hard with great skills.
My heart goes out to those courageous officers who transported Officer Pierson to the hospital and did all things possible while still remaining professional.

To the Pierson family,
My sincere condolences to you all! My father was retired RPD Detective Edwin Wolkonowski aka the "Candy man", for he used to pass out fireball candies wherever he went. I remember praying for his safe return home many times! God bless you all! A policeman's family does not just include his or her immediate family, but the whole "Brotherhood/Sisterhood" of the police department. We all mourn for the loss of one of our own! May God watch over you all and all the Rochester Police Department men & women! May Daryl rest in peace and hope he meets my Daddy up in Heaven!

My deepest condolences to the immediate family of Daryl Pierson, his wife, his two beautiful children, siblings, his parents and parent-in-laws, and all of his brothers and sisters of the Rochester N.Y. Police Department. Officer Pierson should never had encountered this thug in the first place, but the fact is that he did encounter this misguided individual who took the life of an innocent man, and caused injury to an innocent bystander.
Officer Daryl Pierson will have a place in Heaven, looking over his two beautiful children and his beautiful wife. He will continue be both REAL and ACTIVE in the lives of his children and his wife, and he will live with many of his brothers and sisters in Law Enforcement - Mark My Words.
This is a Sad Time and a Blessed Time for the sorrow will turn into strength and from that righteousness will lift up and rain over evil because of the love people have for Officer Daryl Pierson.
Officer Daryl Pierson is truly a hero for what he has done in his past, and what will happen in the future in honor of him.

A MOMENT - from the Book “Stories of Faith and Courage from COPS on the Street”
Dear Heavenly Father,
It was only a moment, but
In that moment a madman walked by
In that moment the world was changed.
In that moment countless Lives, were altered utterly.
In that moment our hearts began breaking.
Now in these moments we speak names previously unknown:
With reverence, we utter Daryl Pierson
In a moment our Line of BLUE stretched out across the nation.
That hard, fast and steady Line of BLUE had been breached.
In these moments now help us as we have all become a part of the Line of BLUE.
Dry our tears, comfort our broken hearts, strengthen our weaken knees, cure our confusion.
May the Line of BLUE draw a circle around us pulling back our hope.
May the Line of BLUE be a shield before us.
May this Line of BLUE carry us into the moments of our future.
A future made sure by their sacrifice in a moment.
It was only a moment and they were gone but
the Line of BLUE and we go on…
AMEN!
In honor of the fallen.

IN MEMORY OF POLICE OFFICER DARYL PIERSON
To the family, friends, and colleagues of Police Officer Daryl Pierson:
From the beginning of time after Cain killed his brother, Abel, there has been a need for law enforcement officers to protect the weak and to bring evildoers to justice. This work is necessary in a sinful world and is dangerous. In modern times, some fifteen police officers have sacrificed their lives to protect the citizens of the Rochester, New York. Today, we honor the sacrifice of Police Officer Daryl Pierson, of the Rochester NY Police Department; who was shot and killed in the line-of-duty on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, near the intersection of Hudson Avenue and Warsaw Street in Rochester, New York, while in foot pursuit of a suspect following a traffic stop.
Lord God, we are grateful for the life of Police Officer Daryl Pierson. He died serving us. Help us never to forget. Help us celebrate the life of Police Officer Daryl Pierson and honor his sacrifice. Be with the family, friends, and colleagues of this fallen hero. Comfort them and give them your strength. Guide those who seek to take care of the family of this hero. May those empowered to do so, care for them with integrity. In commemorating the death of this hero, help those who mourn to remember that death is not the end. Death does not have the final say, but is simply the transition to the glorious life to come. They should look forward to that life to come with joy and thanksgiving.
As for the citizens of Rochester, New York, help them to faithfully equip their police officers with the best tools to protect their community. May their training be adequate to the task. Help the citizens of Rochester, New York, to remember to pay their police officers fairly and treat them with respect. Help the citizens of Rochester, New York, to obey the law and treat each other with dignity so as not to add to the burden of crime and pain to their community.
The time for mourning will soon pass. We have now remembered and celebrated the life lost in this great tragedy. As the family, friends, and colleagues of Police Officer Daryl Pierson go forward, they must celebrate the good things in their lives; and to celebrate life itself!
Finally, Lord God, we pray for the families, friends, and colleagues of all the law enforcement officers who have been killed in the line-of-duty and we thank you for their sacrifices. Bless the lives of their families, friends, and colleagues so they might find healing. Help their law enforcement organizations support the families of these fallen heroes. Even though their deaths might have been senseless, make something good come out of these situations so that their law enforcement organizations and the communities in which they lived and served might be stronger because of their lives and their deaths.
Amen.
Lord God, hear our prayers.
Now, may the Lord bless you, and keep you: the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you: the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. Amen.

Chaplain Steven R. Closs
