Officer Smelser,
Sir, it has taken over 114 years but you are finally being honored. I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Hot Spings. It angers me that only one of the POS's was convicted of your murder-they all should've been found guilty.

Your heroism and service to my home state is honored today, the 114th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
Rest In Peace
