IN MEMORY OF SPECIAL DEPUTY MARSHAL FRANK McKNIGHT
To the family, friends, and colleagues of Special Deputy Marshal Frank McKnight:
From the beginning of time after Cain killed his brother, Abel, there has been a need for law enforcement officers to protect the weak and to bring evildoers to justice. This work is necessary in a sinful world and is dangerous. In modern times, some two hundred and sixty-five United States Marshals have sacrificed their lives to protect the citizens of the United States of America. Today, we honor Special Deputy Marshal Frank McKnight’s sacrifice.
Lord God, we are grateful for the life of Special Deputy Marshal Frank McKnight. He died serving us. Help us never to forget. Help us celebrate Special Deputy Marshal’s life and honor his sacrifice. Be with the family, friends, and colleagues of this fallen hero. Comfort them and give them your strength. Guide those who seek to take care of the family of this hero. May those empowered to do so, care for them with integrity. In commemorating the death of this hero, help those who mourn to remember that death is not the end. Death does not have the final say, but is simply the transition to the glorious life to come. They should look forward to that life to come with joy and thanksgiving.
As for the citizens of the United States of America, help them to faithfully equip their Federal Law Enforcement Officers/Agents/Marshals with the best tools to protect their country. May their training be adequate to the task. Help the citizens of the United States of America to remember to pay their Federal Law Enforcement Officers/Agents/Marshals fairly and treat them with respect. Help the citizens of the United States of America to obey the Federal law and treat each other with dignity so as not to add to the burden of crime and pain to this great nation of ours.
The time for mourning will soon pass. We have now remembered and celebrated the life lost in this great tragedy. As the family, friends, and colleagues of Special Deputy Marshal Frank McKnight go forward, they must celebrate the good things in their lives; and to celebrate life itself!
Lord God, hear our prayers.
Now, may the Lord bless you, and keep you: the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you: the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. Amen.
In His Service,
Pastor Steven R. Closs

Special Deputy Marshal Frank McKnight,
When you made your decision to enter law enforcement some thirty-eight years ago you became blessed:
For the Lord said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." Matthew 5:9 ESV
When you were on duty at the United States District Courthouse in Providence, Rhode Island, on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, you answered God's call to serve:
And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." Isaiah 6:8 ESV
As a result, you were impacted by a transit bus while crossing the street, in a marked crosswalk, from the United States District Courthouse to the John O. Pastore Federal Building on Wednesday, May 28, 2014; subsequently sacrificing your life so that others might live and be protected on Thursday, May 29, 2014:
And the Lord said, "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 ESV
I, along with your family, friends and comrades, will mourn your sacrifice and loss in the line of duty:
And the Lord said, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4 ESV
Now go! Rise up! And do battle against Satan and his demons as an angel for the Lord!
In God's merciful love,
Pastor Steven R. Closs

A police officer should be remembered not by how he died, but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the United States Marshals Service. New England is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother!
