Brian,
You were a great friend and a great officer. It was an honor and a pleasure getting to know you and work with you. I spent some time with your family yesterday and they are all hurting but they know you died a hero and have a place in Heaven with God. Your heroic acts saved a lot of lives and you will never be forgotten. Although it is painful now, someday Rebekah will be able to tell your children what a hero their father was with great pride. I will miss you greatly. We have the watch from here brother. Rest Peacefully.

Rebekah, family and friends - My heart breaks for you family and friends. Words cannot express how I feel, however, I take some comfort in knowing another Hero has received his wings and will continue to watch over us. When we send our loved ones to protect and serve, we know they are doing what their mission on earth was and we supported them. I am so heart broken. Keep your Hero close in your heart, and he will never be far as he has earned his wings and will forever look over you and your children and protect you from above. My prayers and thoughts are being sent, and I wish I was closer to hug you. I am so sorry my friends. Sending my love.

I have often wondered why a man would take a job such as yours, but then I realize you have the same passion I had 40+ years ago. You did a great service and made the ultimate sacrifice. RIP Brother. Your watch has ended but you are appreciated by folks all across this country and beyond. And to your family, may the Peace of Christ be with them forever... a brother from across the river....

Not only were you a great police office, you were a great person. We couldn't have asked for better neighbors than you and Rebekah. I still remember Thanksgiving morning, the bathroom sink broke, I had water everywhere, was babysitting two kids and my husband was on duty. You got out of bed after working late, came over, fixed the problem and still invited us over food. We would see you with your kids playing in the yard all the time and they were so happy. The love that poured out of Rebekah's eyes when she would talk about you was beautiful. May you rest in peace. May your family find comfort during this hard time. May the Norfolk Police Department stay safe and be comforted knowing he is in a good place. Thank you for being a great example.
