Reflections for Sergeant Patrick Scott Johnson
For Sergeant Patrick Johnson & Trooper Gabriel Rich:
Our duty as law-officers involves traveling to remote rural places and busy urban places and everywhere in-between. Sometimes with others and many times alone. The danger that awaits is never really known as some of the most benign occasions can turn deadly. We regret that Patrick and Gabriel would be the next law-officers to be slain by someone who awaits the arrival of those who task it is to investigate with the intent to kill. The slaying of law-officers is always tragic and usually involves culprits who have little or no value for the life of the officer(s) or their own. We are thankful to and for those officers who responded and made an arrest. They brought justice for our fellow officers, and we always will - forever.
We pray for Patrick's and Gabriel's family, friends, co-workers, and all who care about them and rely upon all of them to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.
We are proud to render to Sgt. Scott Johnson and Trooper Gabriel Rich, two of our bravest soldiers-of-the-law, a final salute.

“Lo, there do I see my father.
Lo, there do I see my mother,
and my sisters, and my brothers.
Lo, there do I see the line of my people,
Back to the beginning!
Lo, they do call to me.
They bid me take my place among them,
In the halls of Valhalla!
Where the brave may live forever!”

My deepest condolences on the loss of two of Alaska's finest. I'm just a civilian from Ohio but I have followed the National Geographic program with interest, and I have a deep respect for all who serve in law enforcement. My deepest condolences to the families as well.
