A police officer should be remembered not by how he died, but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother.

As you departed the bonds of this earth and touched the face of God, know that the service and dedication you had for your department, its fellow officers and the citizens of your community will never be forgotten. May God comfort in this time of sorrow your family, your fellow officers and all those whose lives you have touched. You have served your time in hell, now rest comfortably in the arms of God. RIP, we’ll take it from here.

I worked with Bryan as a dispatcher and was privileged to know him personally as well. Bryan was always one with a smile on his face no matter what sort of day it was and was always someone who would put someone else's needs in front of his. He was truly a remarkable man who was dedicated to his work and serving the people of his county. Rest in Peace, Bryan.

People don't get forced into law enforcement. It's something they choose, it's something that's inside of them that pulls them to the profession. It's in their blood, it's in their heart. The desire to do good, make changes, and to protect those whom can not protect themselves is imbedded within them. Becoming a police officer enters you into one of the largest families in the world. There is no greater family to be a part of when you are surrounded by people who have this drive inside them. Deputy Bryan Berger, you had that drive. Rest peacefully sir.
