Today for me as Chaplain, truly has been tough, but yet too see my brothers & sisters coming together after the loss of a Classmate,Brother,Friend Deputy, and truly all-around guy, was more than Heartwarming, but it help bring us together as we prepare to say Good-bye to a fellow-Comrade & Thin Blue Brother... We are never ever prepared for such an event, and words seem to escape me at the moment...Yet, I know that today Heaven Called in One of the BEST....We all Mourn today and into the tomorrows to come, and I know that we will always and forever Remember the Man,whom you indeed were and still are to many...You taught us about serving and about being true too this Nation, and the Community which you served..You Bryan Berger, , you are more than the Dash between the dates....For you were a man, whom followed his heart and lived his dream to serve,be it in The Marines, Communications Dispatcher,or & of course a Spotsylvania County Sheriff Deputy..You simply taught us all to follow your dreams and to serve with your HEART and you indeed with more than Honor Did that... Rest in His Love and Peace Until We meet once again....It's been my honor and pleasure to be your Chaplain and Friend...Never Alone Brother, Never Alone....

Bryan,
We talked about our cars and we shared our desire to be part of this brotherhood. You will be missed but will never be forgotten. We will finish out this academy in honor of you. Giving over 100% in everything we do, just like you did. It is a great loss to anyone who ever had the benefit of meeting you. Heroes live forever and so shall you.

I saw a very bright future ahead for you my friend, in this line of work and for the community you served. You had the "it" that's required to not just wear the uniform but to be the role model and example to others that it represents to be called a police officer. Your exit from this world will leave a big void in our department, community, and more importantly our lives, that we may never be able to fill. May you rest in peace now brother. With heavy hearts, we will take the watch from here.

Deputy Brandon Handy
Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office

Bryan,
I am at a loss for words. I did not want to believe it when Sean called to inform me of your passing. The three of us going to gun shows was always a blast.

Hey man, if you would... say hello to Flight Nurse Niki for me.

Bryan was a strong willed officer. His attitude was so positive and he strived for the career. He will be missed. I had the pleasure of working with him instructing defensive tactics at Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy. Such a loss, so much potential, Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office lost a great officer. Rest in peace brother.

Avenue of the Fallen

Standing at attention in their class “A“uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place.
As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say “it’s OK, you’re with your eternal partners.”
A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.
