DW,
I can not find the words to express my grief right now. My heart is heavy, my eyes burn from the tears shed. I have spent the last 24 hours reminiscing in my mind of our times together. So many memories together on and off duty and all of them wonderful! I will miss you brother! I will miss our phone calls keeping me up to date of the happenings in shoe city! May god be with all of my brother and sisters at JCPD and the entire Southern Tier LE community. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you and with DWs family. God Bless.
Hey DW, "A guy walks into a bar...." You know the rest!

No matter where, no matter when, there will always be people in this world who want peace. Officer Smith guarded that peace, and paid the ultimate price. We cannot repay him or his family for all of the sacrifices, but it is important for his family to know that we are grateful that a man of the caliber of Officer Smith served and served well. He will be missed as a guardian of peace, but he will be more missed as the husband, father, and friend that he was. May our prayers hold up his family, fellow officers, and friends. May they feel the power and love coming from thousands of answered prayers.

From across the country, my most sincere condolences. I'm not a law enforcement officer. I'm one of the grateful civilians that your friend, colleague, husband, and father - and the tens of thousands like him - dedicate their lives to protecting and serving.

While there may seem to be no purpose to be found in his death, there was purpose in his life. Not many of us can say that.
