On behalf of the Westerville, Ohio Division of Police, our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family of Police Officer Alexander Thalmann and the extended law enforcement family of the New Bern, North Carolina Police Department. Rest in Peace brother and watch over us.
I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

Police Officer Alexander Thalmann,
When you made your decision to enter law enforcement some seven months ago you became blessed:
For the Lord said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." Matthew 5:9 ESV
When you responded to that suspicious person call on Friday, March 28, 2014, you answered God's call to serve:
And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." Isaiah 6:8 ESV
As a result, you were shot and subsequently sacrificed your life so that others might live and be protected:
And the Lord said, "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 ESV
I, along with your family, friends and comrades, will mourn your sacrifice and loss in the line of duty:
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4 ESV
Now go! Rise up! And do battle against evil as an angel for the Lord!
In God's merciful love,
Pastor Steven R. Closs
Retired Captain of Police, Nashua Police Department, Nashua, NH

Officer Thalmann - I am on the edge of the Colorado Rockies and connected to you by a third party in LE. Your passing has touched me, here. I have been praying for your recovery for the last two days and the final answer to those requests is, "no", for reasons unknown to us all for right now. Thank you for your service to our Nation, as a United States Marine. Thank you for your service to the State of North Carolina and the people of New Bern. Now that our Heavenly Father has called you home, may you rest in peace and may His perpetual light shine upon you.
