My son-in-law is also a MA at that very same base. MA Mayo is a true hero who lost his life to save the lives of potentially many others who might have gotten shot that fateful day. So sad to have lost his life at such a young age. May he rest in peace and may his family find comfort in knowing he is a true American hero.

From one Navy mom to another, there are no words that can describe the pain you are going through. My heart breaks for you and I pray that God will see you through this most sorrowful time. Thank you for the service of your hero Sailor and also for you who was serving at home. Sadly you have gone from a Blue Star mother to a Gold Star mother. Please know that there are thousands of Navy mothers lifting you up in prayer. Fair winds and following seas to your Sailor....Mark, your watch here on earth is done and now you will stand watch over your mother in heaven.
