My deepest condolences to the family, friends and co workers of Deputy Del Fiorentino. Having served myself for 26 years and being of similar age, this senseless tragedy hits very close to home and reminds us of how quick things can go bad.

Deputy Del Fiorentino, you have made the ultimate sacrifice which all of us in policing know, understand and are prepared to do, yet hope will never have too. You are a hero in life not death. May the almighty keep you and give you rest as you book off for your final shift.

Deputy Sheriff Ricky Del Fiorentino,

When you made your decision to enter law enforcement some twenty-six years ago you became blessed:

For the Lord said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." Matthew 5:9 ESV

When you responded to back up a brother officers during a manhunt of a known violent criminal on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, you answered God's call to serve:

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." Isaiah 6:8 ESV

As a result, you were ambushed and sacrificed your life so that others might live and be protected:

And the Lord said, "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 ESV

I, along with your family, friends and comrades, will mourn your sacrifice and loss in the line of duty:

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4 ESV

Now go! Rise up! And do battle against evil as an angel for the Lord!

In God's merciful love,

Pastor Steven R. Closs
Retired Captain of Police, Nashua Police Department, Nashua, NH
