I wanted to express my condolences to Deputy McDermott's family. This job is unforgiving and dangerous. I am currently in the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Academy working to earn my place in this great Department. I first noticed Deputy McDermott's name engraved on our campus Memorial Wall and wanted to learn more about his life. After learning how he tragically lost his life I learned a valuable lesson.
We never know what life has in store for us, never take anything for granted and always be thankful for the little things in life. I know Deputy McDermott's time was way before mine but I am humbled by his story nonetheless. Rest in Peace Deputy McDermott Your name will never be forgotten.
