John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

So sad . CO,s do the job unarmed. At least cops have a fighting chance being armed with a gun. Imo the hardest job in Law Enforcement

My condolences to CO Baker's family, friends, and colleagues of the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center. Concerning the wicked, at Proverbs 4:16,17 it reads "they cannot sleep unless they do what is bad. They are robbed of sleep unless they cause someone's downfall. They feed themselves with the bread of wickedness, and they drink the wine of violence." Such a wicked act of violence!
At Psalm 37:10, Jehovah God promises that "the wicked will be no more". Along with wickedness, God also promises to eliminate death as well. Revelation 21:4 says "he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." I pray God's promise concerning our loved ones who have fallen asleep in death bring comfort to all who knew and loved Amanda.

I read about her story a few months ago when I first entered corrections. It has been an inspiration to me to become more attentive at work and I hope to honor her memory and the memories of all the other fallen officers by taking the torch and keeping watch.

Many people do not know the many hazards involved in working as a corectional officer. With 20+ years in the business, I have lost several co-workers and friends due to the job. My sympathy goes out to Officer Baker's family, friends, and co-workers. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Amanda was a very kind person and was working her way through nursing school. I came across her profile while doing some research for LODD for 2014. I had the pleasure of attending jail training with her when I moved to the area. She spoke often of her son and wanting to make him proud. You are truly missed by more people than you would ever imagine Amanda (J16), you left a legacy. R.I.P sister.

Rest in peace Amanda Baker. You gave the ultimate sacrifice in trying to resocialize our offending youth. I think we all become complacent as to how violent youth can be.

She went to work that day and did not know
This shift she served would bring such sorrow
This call to duty would be her last
Her time on earth is now her past
God set this day as her time to go
Rest in peace CO Baker, now a hero
She gave the ultimate sacrifice
With integrity and pride she paid the price
Her family, friends and colleagues will mourn
As an angel in heaven she is now reborn
Her golden heart stopped beating
Hardworking hands at rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the very best.
