Reflections for Sergeant Cory Blake Wride
For Sergeant Cory Wride:
The world of a law-officer is largely routine - assisting others, providing safety to those who use the streets and highways, and bringing relief to many in distress or trouble. A small portion of the time he or she is confronting notoriously dangerous people who would sooner kill than be placed in hand-cuffs. We regret that our brother Cory would be the next law-officer to die at the hands of ambusher and a coward.
We pray for Cory's family, friends, co-workers (especially those fellow law-officers rushing to his aid) and those who care about him.
We proudly render to Sergeant Cory Wride, a soldier-of-the-law, a final salute.

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.
Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,
Abraham Lincoln
