He went to work that day and did not know
This shift he served would bring such sorrow
This call to duty would be his last
His time on earth is now his past
God set this day as his time to go
Rest in peace Deputy Johnson, now a hero
He gave the ultimate sacrifice
With integrity and pride he paid the price
His family, friends and colleagues will mourn
As an angel in heaven he is now reborn
His golden heart stopped beating
Hardworking hands at rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the very best.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when David was killed.
To the Johnson family, fellow deputies, and all who call Bubba beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Deputy Johnson gave to his community and the citizens of Tennessee, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 12, 2014.

My hear breaks for Deputy Johnson, his family, brothers and sisters in blue, and the entire Montgomery County community. He was a true hero and will never be forgotten. To the family, please lean on your LE family, as they will be your strength from here on out. I lost my 29 year old son and love of my life, Officer Casey Kohlmeier & his K-9 Draco, in the line of duty when a drunk driver killed them 3 months ago, on October 30, 2013, in Pontiac, IL, and I could not make it without their continued love and support of my family. Every day is a new challenge, and I will be honest with you, it still feels like yesterday. Everyone says the pain will be easier to bear in the days and years ahead, and tho it has only softened a bit, the LE community and COPS organization have been godsends to us. I will pray for you all to get through this with us and give us strength for each new day. God bless you all.
