After I was shot in Oct 2013, you reached out to me. Sent me a msg with words of encouragement. "Im glad you're still with us" you wrote, "I'd go through a door with you any day!" It meant a lot to me then but I couldn't have imagined how much it would come to mean to me later when you were shot under similar circumstances. It broke my heart and I felt called to come and be by your side. Your family welcomed me, even though we had never met and I came and told your aunt the story of how we came to "know" one another. I was there. Right next to you. I held your hand and I talked to you. Somehow, I KNOW you could hear me. I carry you with me Bobby. Now and always. I will never forget you. One day...we WILL meet again...and no doubt, guard the gates of Heaven...TOGETHER. #YouGoIGo

Brother, time continues forward despite our want for it to "stand fast". Maybe it's because we want to hold-on to our loved ones or because we don't want to lose clear crisp memories. One thing for certain; Your life & your service will forever be remembered. We'll hold on to your memory and to every exchange we shared. Apart of you lives in every Peace Officers life. As Bretheren we'll continue forward until "The Roll is called up Yonder" learning "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" because like the Apostle "I can do all things in Christ; which strengthen me". Your Bex Co Family will seek to walk the straight & narrow road to Honor you & those that Responded. Thank You.

Bobby was an amazing person, outstanding, dedicated officer, my classmate through two acadamies and one of my best friends for more than 8 years. He had an infectious smile and a mischievous personality. Yesterday marks one year since he was killed. Not a day has gone by that I haven't thought of that smile, and laugh. He touched so many lives, and those who never met him, truly missed out. RIP, brother, watch over us until we are with you again.

During the 2014 Candlelight Vigil, I had the honor and privilege to escort your family member from the bus to their seat in the Memorial with the rest of your family and children. May the Hand of God continue to guide you through your journey of grief. May you find comfort in the Brotherhood of Blue that surrounds you. I pray you will make the journey to Washington DC for the ceremonies for the fallen next month. There will be officers who ride in honor of your husband on the Police Unity Tour and the Law Enforcement United Tour. It is a heart warming and bittersweet moment when we all meet at the wall to rejoin our fallen and greet you. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers along with all of those who serve us everyday all over the world. May you have Peace and grow through the pain and find comfort in the wonderful memories you shared with Robert. God Bless and Godspeed.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Robert was killed.
To Robert's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Deckard gave to his community and the citizens of Texas, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on December 20, 2013. Even in death, you made the magnificent gift of life by being an organ donor.
