TO THE CUNNIFF FAMILY,

My belated sympathy for the tragic loss your family experienced almost two years ago. I'm convinced that Trooper Cunniff was a great father, husband and son made a profound impact on all who he touched. That impact was most evident when I read that his son Zach nominated his friend Sa’Fyre Terry for a Disney World trip. Both of these young children haveexperienced unspeakable losses. Certainly, Zach's friendship with Sa'Fyre and his incredibly compassionate act serve as testament to his fine upbringing. I know that Trooper Cunniff would be so proud to see the fine young man his son has become.....

Dear Cunniff Family...First...I want to offer my most heartfelt condolences...and deepest sympathy to each of you…in the loss of your…Son…Husband…Father…as well as to your extended family…and members of the NYS Police.

I just came across the article on your loved one's loss...and it touched me for many reasons.

I lost my NYS Trooper brother on the Thruway…many years ago ...and then my son…who was named for my brother…and would have been 45 on Dec. 17, 2013…was tragically killed in 2006…in a very unnecessary incident…that has added...to our family’s devastation.

I mention the above…because our loss was also due...to an automobile accident...while my brother was serving and protecting…and also involved an embankment…and your loved one’s eow …is also my son’s birthday…so I want you to know...I will remember Trooper Cunniff’s ultimate sacrifice…as he too served and protected…and from now on…along with my brother …and my son…Trooper Cunniff will remain in my prayers. He will not be forgotten.

May God sustain you in your grieving…and remember...It’s the character that’s the strongest…that God gives the most challenges to…so lean into your cross…lest you fall under its burden.

God Bless your family…and may Trooper David W. Cunniff…Rest Peacefully…in His Perpetual Light.

Sincerely

Anita L. Culosi

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when David was killed.

To David's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Trooper Cunniff gave to his community and the citizens of New York, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on December 17, 2013.

Trooper Cunniff,

Your actions touched the lives of people in ways you never imagined. There are no words that we can say that will assuage the pain felt by those whom loved you. With your passing we are all lessened. We know the sacrifices you made as a member of the law enforcement community. Rest in peace my brother...

Trooper Cunniff,

I know you will rest well in the arms of God.

To Your Family,

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray, “Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for over two years. Feel those prayers. God is with you, He knows and will ease your pain.
