I searched the web for as much information as possible regarding this incident and also what I could find out about Officer Kohlmeier. Something most of us have heard before rings true here too. Its not how they died, its how they lived. And it seems from what I read that Casey lived a good life, the kind of life he wanted to live. He was a small town local boy who grew up, was considerate of others and driven by a duty to serve his country in the Air Force and later his community as a member of the police force. The more we read the more we realize our loss. As a citizen of this state I want to thank his family and community he grew up in for in part making Casey who he was and let them know that they are in our thoughts and prayers. We all have suffered from this loss to some degree.

I know it's little in a time of deep grief but Casey has his best buddy with him in heaven - no more harnesses, no more leashes, no more bad guys out to harm them .... they are playing frisbee and ball in huge rolling emerald fields, strewn with flowers under a golden sun with gentle breezes, taking time to rest and enjoy after years of hard work and danger - I love them and wish them well on this new adventure. God got two great warriors on the 30th- our grief is never for the departed .... it's for our own pain and living without them -- let us hope whatever the sentence that it be the MAXIMUM allowed and that it be ordered to be served WITHOUT possibility of parole - if there is ANY justice that will be it. My heart goes out to Casey & Draco's family, friends and coworkers - I am SO SORRY for your loss

For Casey- Rest easy brother, you have stood your watch with pride and professionalism. Go to the promised place where you can look down to see your brothers continue what you have started. Thank you for your service. May the light of Christ ease the pain on the ones you have loved, and those who have loved you in return.

For Draco- You have guarded our backs, always with that pleasure to please. We have trusted you even when we had our own doubts, and you prevailed. Thanks for never showing fear when there was fear and always going the extra mile no matter what the call was. You will be missed, you will never be replaced. Go and romp in that great puppy heaven, play with the ball and roll on your back forever. You earned it partner.
