With my last breath, I will clear the way for my brother behind me.
For most this is the unspoken promise.
For you, it is how you lived.
Worth your weight in measure, memorialized from this day forward.
A father and husband to be loved and honored.
Clear the way for us our brother, as you fight beside Saint Micheal.

Although we never met, your bravery is one that inspires us in our criminal justice paths. It is a selfless act to decide to wear the badge with honor as you did. You may no longer be among one of our living heroes, but you will forever be in our thoughts, you courageously did what few can do. We think of you with respect and know it takes a strong person to be in the criminal justice field. You will live forever in those who knew your story and find inspiration in all you did, may you rest in peace and thank you for your service.

As I begin to morn the loss of my law enforcement brother, I wonder why the senseless death of a tactical officer seems so unreal to me.
I came to realize that the SWAT teams are the heroes to the uniformed police. We look up to them. They are the most physically fit, well-trained officers that carry the biggest and baddest weapons. When we hear shots fired or have a subject barricaded inside a home we call for the SWAT team, our heroes. Heroes that are not supposed to die.
Seeing them arrive on the scene brings a calm to the uniformed officers. When they gear up we feel that everything is going to be alright because our big brother, our hero, is here to make things better.
Even though I do not personally know this tactical officer he was like the mysterious superhero that hides behinds his mask, hood and helmet. We never personally know who the superheroes are, but we know what they stand for and they will risk their lives to help make things right for others.
Thank you to the members of Baltimore County Police Tactical Team for being our calm in the storm. Stay strong during this difficult time. Your younger brothers and sisters are here for you.
God bless and stay safe!

As someone who has traveled to Baltimore County on multiple occasions and someone who greatly respects the work police officers do and the dangers they face every day (having been helped out by several fine officers on various occasions), I extend my (and my guide dog's) condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Jason Schneider. Sir, I salute your bravery and dedication that showed prominantly even in your final moments. My deepest respect and condolences for such a great man and such a tragic loss.
