Reflections for Corporal Thomas Keith Slay
Keith,
It's been a decade my brother, can't believe how time has passed by.
We coached Amanda & Jeffrey together and later you helped her with flying lessons...
Not a week goes by that I don't think of you and all the good you did. Your smile, your quiet confidence, all missed.
God bless you and your family, your memory will live on forever.
Your sacrifice helped keep our city safe.

Hey Bro-
Today has been a tough one. It’s still not real that you’re gone. What is real is that you’re in the hands of our Father. You gifted my family a wonderful Yellow Lab from the first litter of Hunter and Hannah. Emmie is doing fine. She’s a sweet girl! I will forever be grateful that you did that...Most importantly is that we were friends! I miss you bro!

As I reflect during the upcoming Law Enforcement Memorial Week, I can not help but think of Keith. Keith and I knew each other for well over twenty years. Though we spent most of our time in different assignments, we remained friends. Keith's last assignment was in a narcotics unit that I was also assigned. Keith died responding to help me and another officer. Keith was a dedicated officer and a good friend. However, the most important thing anyone should know about Keith was his love of Christ. He was a dedicated Christian whose faith was a shining example to all who knew him. Rest well brother,

Keith was my Field Training Officer (FTO) in 1989, after completing the Columbus, Georgia Police Academy. He was a great officer and a good friend. He loved aviation and he loved being a police officer. He remained my friend through the years. Rest in peace my friend. Keep the blue side up.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Keith died.
To Keith's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Corporal Keith Slay gave to his community and the citizens of Georgia, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on July 30, 2013.

S/A Keith Slay was an officer who was very respected by all. His sense of humor, attitude, and personality made him a friend first and officer second. He was so very proud of his assignment as the helicopter pilot for the Columbus Police Department and the Metro Narcotics Task Force. Still so hard to comprehend his loss.

They say when it rains it pours, and that day, it was heavy on my heart trying to put the bad news together without falling apart. My Brother was always in good spirits and never letting anyone down. Brother Keith was fearless, dependable, selfless and strong. I know he is with my Father, Jesus Christ in Heaven, where He shall remain. May Brother Keith rest in Paradise. May God continue to bless his Family.

I have laid down my life in service to all of you.
I have been a part of the fabric that has held the line between your safety and your victimization. I have given my life so that others may live in peace. I have lived my life as a dedicated member of the greatest profession. There is no greater honor.
As I now become a part of the rich history of law enforcement, please remember me always for I have left behind those who loved and depended upon me.
My partners and my agency, please remember my family, their loss, and don’t let time soften your compassion for them.
You guard the gate now and I will continue my watch from above.
MAY YOU REST IN PEACE AND MAY YOUR FAMILY FIND COMFORT IN THE GOOD YOU HAVE DONE HERE ON EARTH.
