Avenue of the Fallen

Standing at attention in their class “A“ uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place. As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say its ok you’re with your eternal partners. A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.

“God above, thank you for our men and women in blue;
Those who serve and protect us here at home,
So that we can live our lives in peace,
And offer this prayer of our praise to you.

Thank you, Father God, for all of them give some,
And some of them gave all.
For those little children,
Who can only visit their hero Moms and Dad, on a wall.

Our great nation, Father God, was blessed by you;
Our freedom, our families, and our homes, too.
But the greatest blessing you gave us, Father God,
Was our heroes dressed in blue.

They answer our calls for help, in the middle of the night;
Responding to help stop a crime or a fight.
They do the job with dedication to us all,
They stand there in blue, so brave and tall.

They don’t do this job, Father God, for the pay,
For if they did, not one would stay.
No, they do this job, because when there is a cry of the wolf at the door,
Someone needs to stand and say, “You shall hurt no one, no more”.

For the spouse at home and alone, it’s hard place to be;
When or if, their hero in blue, they will ever again see.
So we thank you, Father God, for these heroes that protect our homes;
Keep them safe at night, in our streets where they roam.

And if you must take them home to be with you,
Kiss them all for us, Father God, our heroes in blue.
And when they stand before you, come their judgment day,
We are certain of the words they will hear you say;

Welcome home, you heroes in blue.”
