Having visited Bardstown a few years ago, it was a shock to hear something like this had happened in this town. May the friends, family and brothers and sisters of Jason Ellis find comfort in the coming days. He didn't deserve this at such a young age. May you rest in peace Officer Jason Ellis.

No greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:13.

Brother we have your watch from here.

Your work is done here on Earth - Heaven has called upon you today, leaving so many words left to say. But now it's too late, for your time has come, words unspoken; I am sure everybody has some. Regrets and wishes are probably there too, but lasting forever are memories of you.
There have been many times that we waved to each other, but we were there for each other in time of need. Now it's time for us to say Good-Bye, until we meet again in heaven to fly. Now go and Patrol the Heavens Above and Watch Below those you Love. Thank you for your service.

THERE IS NO GREATER HONOR THAN BEING A PEACE OFFICER. ALWAYS REMEMBER.

I have laid down my life in service to all of you.
I have been a part of the fabric that has held the line between your safety and your victimization. I have given my life so that others may live in peace. I have lived my life as a dedicated member of the greatest profession. There is no greater honor.

As I now become a part of the rich history of law enforcement, please remember me always for I have left behind those who loved and depended upon me.
My partners and my agency, please remember my family, their loss, and don’t let time soften your compassion for them.

You guard the gate now and I will continue my watch from above.

MAY YOU REST IN PEACE AND MAY YOUR FAMILY FIND COMFORT IN THE GOOD YOU HAVE DONE HERE ON EARTH.

A police officer should be remembered not by how he died, but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the Bardstown Police Department. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother.

My Memorial Day Prayer: for the Bardstown Kentucky Police Department

Today, this Memorial Day, my prayers are for the two young sons of K-9 Officer Ellis, that they remember him as they grow as the Kentucky and American Hero he is and not the tragic and horrific way he was lost to them, their mother, and their family. We share the grief of his friends, team members, the city of Bardstown, his Chief and assistant Chief, and the State of Kentucky and extend our sincere sympathy to all. All in law enforcement, all in the K-9 world, grieve and mourn for him.

My prayer is also for his K9 Partner who served with him for the safety and security of Bardstown and Kentucky residents; and that his team members understand how a K9 partner can grieve for the loss of his handler also; and they let the dog know they understand.

My prayer extends for the killer(s) to know and accept that when the trap was laid to ambush and take the life of that heroic police officer, society accepts that that evil person at that moment was willing to give up his/their own life/lives. I pray also for the prosecutor, judge and jury to remember the way Officer Ellis was killed and how he was left to be found as they pursue capture and justice for whoever participated in this ambush and committed this murder. I pray that KY State Police are successful very soon in capturing the killer(s).

My final prayer is for peace to come to his wife as she grieves his loss, that she will be comforted in some way to know her husband will live on in her sons and he will be given his heroic due of Honor and Memory in the Law Enforcement World Forever and that his family will not be forgotten.

May God ease the pain of the Ellis family and the Bardstown Police Department and give your Chief the strength he needs while they grieve this loss and to lead his team in their sorrow in the days and months ahead. I am so very sorry for your tragic loss and for all the lives this killer(s) harmed, in addition to Officer Ellis's murder, that will never be the same again.

TRUE HEROES

For K9 Officer Jason Ellis, Bardstown KY PD
American and Kentucky HERO
LODD
End of Watch 5/25/2013

When I think of a True HERO, I think of the best
Those that wear the bullet proof vest
They endure smoke, danger, fire and flame
They have police, fire or sheriff in their title and name
They are our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marine
And not the athletes on our favorite sport team

Those we can admire for their achievements and skill
But their job doesn’t require them to die or to kill
There’s entertainment and magic in how they move a ball
But they don’t save our lives or answer our emergency call

True heroes care for others before their own need
They work at high risk without personal greed
We don’t pay them millions; when it’s what they deserve
When we count all their sacrifices and many ways they serve

They protect our flag, borders and prisons and our wildlife too
Our families and pets are safer because of what they do
And many have partners who serve them not by hand but by paw
A double hero status protecting our freedom and law

They deserve so much more, in respect and in pay
And lifetime veterinary benefits for their partners who
“Faithfully, Lead the Way”

Their bond never broken; bad guys and enemies beware
We have more peace and sleep better because they are there
Let’s give them honor and appreciation and value what they do
Reserve the pedestal for them – our Heroes so true.

Daily our position is clear that we will SERVE and PROTECT our communities without faltering and with no hesitation.
Daily we show pride in our chosen profession LAW ENFORCEMENT, for we willingly walk the line of GOOD over EVIL facing the unknown with COURAGE keeping our trust and faith in GOD.
We know that evil roam these streets and at any moment in the course of performing our duties the ultimate sacrifice might be required of us in the service to our community, for LAW ENFORCEMENT is not a job but a calling and only a few will make the decision to commit to that calling to serve fo some will give all that they have.
