I was at the Arizona Peace Officers Memorial last night when Governor Brewer announced this painful news--bitter irony that as we gathered to grieve the pain of years past and too many officers fallen, that one more would be added to the list. But I know this: Officer Huffman died in the service of others, and there is no more honorable death. And I know from 30 years of living with a police survivors' family, that he and his family will be honored, respected, and loved by the state and by the many who have walked in these shoes already. You will survive, and your loved one will not be forgotten....

As a daughter of a retired DPS Officer I know well the sacrifice that is made when an officer is killed. Every time your loved one puts on his or her uniform there is always a chance that they wont come home.

The Huffman family gave up one of their own in the line of duty. My heart and prayers go out to them in the loss of their loved one. He gave the ultimate sacrifice for the State of Arizona, His life. May God give you a hero's we;come when you get to heaven officer Huffman. Thank you for your service.

Far too many Troopers in far too many states have given their lives in such a manner. No way is a good way, but this way is so avoidable. We’ve all been there where we lose track of what’s in front of us as we drive along the highway and we far too often see the cost of it. This truck driver who seems to have been completely out of touch with what was ahead, despite all the flashing lights, will now live with this the rest of his life. Not punishment enough maybe, but certainly a harsh, self imposed one.
Officer Huffman, you are a hero. You did what you could to try to safeguard those entrusted to you and it cost you. You made the ultimate sacrifice but all who know and love you more have made a major sacrifice as well. The physical void you have left can never truly be filled, but so long as they keep you forever in their hearts and minds, you will never really be gone. My prayers are with the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
God Bless and may you forever Rest in Peace, Brother.

Lord please be with all Law Enforcement Officers. May your light and love surround us all at this time and help us with whatever our individual needs may be. I pray Ofc. Huffman's family will be comforted by angels and by the Lord's presence. There is no way to mourn well, but please let them know they have a large family who feels their pain and understands their heartache. Help them know they are not and will never be alone...

“Then there are the wolves,” the old war veteran said, “and the wolves feed on the sheep without mercy.” Do you believe there are wolves out there who will feed on the flock without mercy? You better believe it. There are evil men in this world and they are capable of evil deeds. The moment you forget that or pretend it is not so, you become a sheep. There is no safety in denial. Then there are sheepdogs,” he went on, “and I’m a sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and confront the wolf.”

To all my fellow sheepdogs out there, watch yourself, watch your brothers and sisters and watch your 6...
