To the family and friends of Officer Collier and his fellow office:rs
On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Sean was killed.
To Officer Collier's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Collier gave to his community and the citizens of Massachusetts and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on April 18, 2013.

"Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day."
-Shakespeare.
RIP brother. We are honored to carry the torch.

THE MONUMENT
I never dreamed it would be me
My name for all eternity
Recorded here at this hallowed place
Alas, my name, no more my face.
"In the Line of Duty" I hear them say
My family now the price will pay
My folded flag stained with their tears
We only had those few short years.
The badge no longer on my chest
I sleep now in eternal rest
My sword I pass to those behind
And pray they keep this thought in mind.
I never dreamed it would be me
And with heavy heart and bended knee
I ask for all here from the past
Dear God let my name be last.

It's not the way he died, but the way he lived, that matters. So it reads on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. Sean Collier was an example for all who work in law enforcement in the Higher Ed community. We know the risks we take - they are the same as any other officer in the country.
To the Collier family, and the MIT Police family, we wish you all the best.
Sean - rest now. We'll take it from here. We got you back. And thank you for your service.

Poor young Officer taken away from our sad world long before his time. Many live free because he answered the call. Cowards took his life in the only way they could by ambushing him ! They were too weak to face him on level grounds! His bravery in the short but giving life he lived will never be forgotten !! His family and friends should be forever proud that their lives were touched by his hands ! I may not ever had known him in our paths but rest assured you are my brother and I would have been proud to call you comrade !
