Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sheriff Eugene Crum

I have known Sheriff Crum for over 25 years. We assisted each other at times when I was working security in the local area. One of my sisters worked as a dispatcher for the small town of Matewan when Sheriff Crum was employed there. He was a true law enforcement officer and gave his all to his job. R.I.P. Eugene, you will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear of this horrible tragedy. Sheriff Crum and his officers recently assisted me in recovering a stolen child while making sure the child would not be further traumatized. I am sure his leadership will be sorely missed. My condolences to all of you.

When an animal does this to a law enforcement officer, they should be put down like a dog right there on the spot. I hate of hearing anyone being killed but, for a person to go out and do this job only to not return home is the worst! I pray for ALL fallen officers and their families. I to was an officer but ailments would not allow me to do the service anymore.

Rest in Peace Sheriff Crum and may God Bless your family and comfort them during this sad time. Anyone who shoots a LEO should not have the benefit of trial. They should be shot down themselves as they did to their victim.

For Sheriff Eugene Crum, his family and the officers of the Mingo County Sheriff's Office....

Seasons drift so quickly
Beneath the single sky
A lesson in the making
All things must come to die.

Therein lies the silence
The journey beyond the breath
To flowers in the forest
We've now become in death.

But speak of the glint of the eye
Reflected in Damascus Blade
For those who saw freedom & honor
And in battle their lives they gave.

So take heart men of Valor
Know your deeds will endure the night
Live on as flowers in the forest
Live on, within God's light

Rest in Peace.........

Avenue of the Fallen

Standing at attention in their class “A“ uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place. As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say its ok you’re with your eternal partners. A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.
