Tpr. Sauter- I had the honor of working with you for a week while you were temporarily assigned to different Investigative Units in December 2012. Although we only rode together for a couple days, I consider myself extremely lucky for having known you. Your work ethic, sense if humor, willingness to learn, and genuine brotherhood you showed for all of your partners will never be forgotten. Rest easy and watch over your family. You are, and will always be missed. Keep us safe, brother.

The Willow Tree - Dedicated to James Sauter and all fallen officers
"Weeping willow, we hear you sway
In solace silence, as we pray
Your memory will never fade
As we find comfort in your shade
Weeping willow, your branches strong
In your shadows, we march on
Your guiding light shines through in a gentle breeze
As we remember you, beneath the willow tree."

Hey Elizabeth
This is Helene Wood, I was able to introduce myself at the services, which I don't expect you to remember. When things calm down in a few weeks, look through your things and find the green memorial pin with my husbands name on it...Thomas Wood EOW 10/23/2006...we also include his K-9 Daro on that pin.
With that you can contact me via ODMP or Concerns of Police Survivors or The Cook County Sheriffs Police Academy at Triton College.
You have a wonderful support system around you baby girl...we all know what your going through right now and understand that sometimes you just have to say WTF...and make everyone step back for a minute so you can breath. I know right now you feel like you've lost yourself, stay lost for a little bit...you'll be back...promise :o)

My deepest condolences. While I did not know you personally, I have lived in the area and was greatly saddened to hear the terrible news. I thank you Trooper Sauter for all of your hard work and dedication. You have gone to work every day knowing you are putting your life on the line, and have made the ultimate sacrifice at the young age of 28. You are a true hero by any definition of the word; and have now been called on to serve in a better place. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as they journey through this difficult time.
