Reflections for Executive Director Thomas Lynn Clements

Thank you for everything. A kind soul that stood out in a cruel world. Tom was the kind of person to see the good in everything. A life taken far too soon.

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Director Clements, I remember hearing of your loss over 5 years ago and grieving along with the rest of Colorado. Your legacy is felt even at CTA, and all of the trainers there speak very fondly of you and acknowledge your many, many contributions to the department. I'm honored to have the opportunity to carry your legacy every day, and look forward to one day seeing you in the afterlife. Thank you, sir, for your many years of service to our department and to the state of Colorado, and may you rest well.

Director Clements - You have paid the ultimate price for being a man of integrity, and for doing a job not many would even attempt. I regret, so much, that death came calling for you, at home...just disgusting. May your wife and daughters be protected and, one day, recover from this ugliness.

Thank you for your service to the people of Colorado. May God grant you eternal rest and may His perpetual light shine upon you.

Rest in peace, boss. You became a casualty of the unseen war we fight with the gangs. We fight with both hands tied behind our backs but the Correctional Officers of Colorado still fight as well as we can against well organized, well financed and well armed ruthless gangs. one gangster skipped through the wide open cracks in the system and unfortunately got you. I hope that CID and CBI uncover the whole conspiracy that got your killer out to kill you. I don't know anything but how the system worked and to all you hard charging CO's out there , do your job, don't be afraid use your brains, and strap a gun on, be ready. Its a war and we're losing. The state of Colorado wont protect you only you can protect yourself

My deepest condolences to the family, members of the department, and those served, at the loss of this leader. May faith, family, friends and time join together to ease everyone’s pain at this time of loss.

While many other career choices were certainly available, the Director chose to protect his fellow man, and for this we give everlasting thanks. As the Good Lord hath said, “Blessed are the Peacemakers.”

Thank you for your service, your convictions and moral character, as well as your devotion to duty. May you now rest in peace, knowing your fellow brothers and sisters will watch over your family and continue the Good Work!

Such an outrageous travesty. My heart goes out to Director Clement's wife and family, and his department associates. There is no easy path to acceptance, no path to understanding why, only takingone small step at a time with grieving your loss.

To the family and friends of Director Tom Clements and his fellow officers and staff:

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Tom was brutally murdered.

To Director Clement's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Director Clements gave to his community and the citizens of Colorado and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on March 19, 2013.

Though I never knew him, he was part of my Law Enforcement family and I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. My heart aches with all the losses we have suffered, and continue to suffer, through the years. God is our only peace through such incidents & He will judge the guilty. May family & friends feel the presence of the "God of All Comfort" as they endure the distressing days ahead. I join them in their agonizing grief & remember them in my prayers.

Another senseless tragedy
Another day of grief,
Another day of praying
To help us find relief.

Relief from bitter anguish
Relief from rage so great,
Relief from lenient justice
Which continues to seal our fate.

Relief from heartache’s torment
As we continue on,
Oh, the awesome loss of brotherhood
Now that you are gone.

Though our hearts are deeply broken
And our tears forever flow,
There’s a comforting assurance
That now with God you go.

We know that you are welcome
Now at Heaven’s gate,
While meeting brothers & sisters
Who also met such fate.

The family of Law Enforcement
Knows no distance here or there,
And we recall in comfort
You await us there.
