For Master Trooper J.A. Walker:
The duties of the law-officer on patrol are varied and many. Stopping to assist motorists is a service that very well could be extinct since so many auto warranties, insurers and clubs, along with the cell-phone can easily free the officer for other duties. It is, however, the natural wont of the patrols to provide help in all circumstances. Therefore it is a doubly treacherous act to gun down an mostly unsuspecting officer who stops to help another in need. We regret that Junius would be the next victim, especially recognizing his exceptional length of years in service to others, to lose his life at the hands of an ordinary and cowardly wretch. We are grateful to those responding officer(s) responsible for his capture.
We pray for Junius' family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.
We are proud to render Trooper Junius Walker, a long, long time soldier-of-the-law, a final salute.

It is so sad to hear about this terrible tragedy...the loss of a Valuable Veteran Officer who died in the line of duty. On behalf of the Dallas Police Department, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Family, Friends, Colleagues and to the Community Trooper Walker served and protected. Master Trooper Walker gave 40 years to Law Enforcement, that indeed is an ultimate sacrifice. I salute the bravery and selflessness of Master Trooper Walker. We as officers understand the danger that comes with the oath and wearing of the badge; but we love police work, and its evident that Master Trooper loved his job. I pray that God gives the family strength during this difficult time of sarrow. My deepest sympathy......

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

A day Dinwiddie County, and law enforcement officers in the State of Virginia will not soon forget. The loss of "Mr. Walker" as I respectfully addressed him, will leave a hole the size of a canyon within our community. Mr. Walker served the State of Virginia with professionalism and pride. He consistently opened his ears and arms to anyone who needed assistance. His smile, humor and willingness to share his knowldge will live in my heart forever. Thanks for the twenty years of lifes lessons. May God bless your family and rst in peace my friend.
