Reflections for Police Officer James Dutch Lister

Dutch served honorably with the Phoenix Police Department and retired as a Detective. Hired on at ASU PD afterwards. Dutch was a smart, experienced officer who was a great asset to every unit he worked in... a "real good hand" as we say in the West. I worked with Dutch when he was assigned to the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force. Rest easy Dutch. You are not forgotten.

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

I am so glad you were finally added Dutch. It helps your family in many ways. I was part of the Police Unity Tour in 2011 and wore you bracelet which afterwards I sent it to your wife. I hoped you would have been honored sooner.

ASCENSION

And if I go,
While you’re still here---
Know that I live on,
Vibrating to a different measure
--behind a thin veil you cannot see through.
You will not see me,
So you must have faith.
I wait for the time when we can soar together again,
--both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to its fullest,
And when you need me,
Just whisper my name in your heart,
…I will be there.

Officer Lister, campus cops are not meant to die in the line of duty. We work in safe unassuming environments, isn't that right? It's something we all hear. You have proven that being a Police Officer, even at a college or university, can be dangerous. Little did those whose actions caused your eventual heart attack consider the consequences. I hope they have dwelled on your sacrifice and learned from it.

God Bless and may you forever Rest in Peace, Brother.
