As someone who is retired from both the United States Marine Corps Reserve and Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), each time that I pass the memorial sign on the 91 Freeway, I still become enraged at the fact that so-many died at the hands of a former LAPD Cop.
(May You Rest-in-Peace........)

I was still living in Riverside that year - across the street from my former school, La Sierra University. That night, I hadn’t been sleeping well and was randomly woken up by what I thought was simply a car backfiring or tire blowout - being that close to the 91, you hear a lot of things every day. Well, when I woke up at my usual time for the work day, I was scrolling through news and discovered that what I heard during the night was actually those gunshots. I still get chills & tears, knowing how close I was to one of these shootings from that awful week. (Once the chase led them to the cabin, those officers had been treated at the med center affiliated with my other school: Loma Linda University.) RIP Officer Crain…and RIP to the other officers lost that week. You’ll never be forgotten.
