Reflections for Police Officer Chris Yung

I was born in Fairfax and lived in Prince William for most of my life. I am a Dallas County Police Officer in Texas now. It always hurts when a fellow officer has fallen no matter why or where. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Officer Yung. Gone but never forgotten.

Chris - it is almost unimaginable that we will never have the pleasure to see that heartfelt smile any longer in the Courthouse. You were always professional and prepared, but more importantly a joy to be around. Thank you for being the type of man that was always an example to others. May your generous heart live on in your beautiful children.

Assistant Commonwealth Attorney, PWC

Chris, your family was not ready for this, but for the families of those whose selfless hearts lead them to a life of service in the protection of others, they know the inherent risk in the task you chose to undertake. Your willingness to lay your life on the line in the line of duty reflects a level of courage and selflessness rarely seen, traits you learned from your parents and passed on to others. Your life has impacted the lives of so many others in ways too numerous to count, and you will live on in the hearts of those whose lives you've touched.

John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son...." Chris, your parents have also given a son - a son who served selflessly, following Christ's example. Rest in peace, Chris, and know that lives may end, but love lives on. You will be remembered... with love.

Even though we have never met, we have a lot in common. I too am a former U.S. Marine, a motor officer, 35 years old, and have been a peace officer for seven years. I too was working the same day as you when I received the tragic news of your passing. We may be coasts apart, but you are my brother. Per the Marines' Hymn, Heaven's streets are guarded by United States Marines and now the post has been filled by another fine Marine who is also an upstanding motor officer.

From one Marine and motor officer to another, ride in peace on Heaven's streets. I look forward to patrolling and riding amongst you. But until then, hold my spot in formation for we down here have the watch now.

San Bernardino Sheriff's Dept., CA-Victorville City Traffic Division

Chris,
I can't believe you're gone. Thanks for being such a great friend for so many years. Before Chris became an officer, there were plenty of times when we'd be driving along and he'd stop on the side of the road to ask a stranger who was pulled over if they needed help. It was just in his nature and who he was. I always admired that about him. The world is a darker place without him. I'll miss you buddy...
