Reflections for Corporal Jimmie Deveril Norman
We honor your memory and your sacrifice and that of the brave civilian who died trying to help you. The manager was not the first nor will be the last. There should be a special place on these pages for the civilians who also gave their lives in the service of law enforcement. May your memories be a blessing.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

Your work is done here on Earth - Heaven has called upon you today, leaving so many words left to say. But now it's too late, for your time has come, words unspoken; I am sure everybody has some. Regrets and wishes are probably there too, but lasting forever are memories of you.
There have been many times that we waved to each other, but we were there for each other in time of need. Now it's time for us to say Good-Bye, until we meet again in heaven to fly. Now go and Patrol the Heavens Above and Watch Below those you Love. Thank you for your service.

On behalf of our entire family, I wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Jemmie was killed in the line of duty. Corporal Norman, thank you so much for your decades of service. While I recognize that no amount of words can ever begin to do your life justice, I want your family and friends who may one day read this to fully realize that you will never be forgotten - not ever. In your years of service, I am positive you touched so many lives in profoundly positive ways that, again, no amount of words could ever even hope to do justice to.
My thoughts at this time are with your family, friends, co-workers, agency, and community. You lived as a hero and will forever be remembered as one. Again, thank you so much for your duty and dedication not only to your local community but to the entire country.

Corporal Norman, You are alive and well in the presence of the Lord.
To Your Family,
Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.
Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray, “Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with loving, caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name, Amen”
I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for 212 months. Feel those prayers. God is with you, He knows and will ease your pain.

For Corporal Jimmie Norman:
The law-officer on patrol runs the constant risk of having to fight for his life any time or at any place. We regret that our brother Jimmie would be the next officer to die in circumstances that repeat across the country. Further, we regret that a citizen who observes an officer-in-trouble and came to his aid would also lose his life in this heroic and uncommon action.
We are thankful for responding officers who brought the culprit to swift justice.
We pray for Jimmies family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him, along with all those who care about the citizen hero also forfeiting his life to come to Jimmie's aid.
May they all be ready to reach-out to one another in the days a head.
We are proud to render a final salute to Cpl. Jimmie Norman, a soldier-of-the-law, and the citizen who stands a hero in our eyes.
