Reflections for Police Officer Jennifer Lynn Sebena

Jennifer,

Today I learned that it will be my solemn duty to carry your name engraved on a bracelet for the next year on my departments "Carry the Fallen" program. I will honor your sacrifice and devotion to duty and you will not be forgotten.

Officer Sebena, rest in peace for all eternity for your service and sacrifice is everlasting and will carry on through those of us maintaining a vigilant watch in your mournful memory.

Officer James B. Boyd
Laredo (Tx.) Police Department

January 3, 2013

Jen, I regret that I was unable to attend your service on the 29th. So many of us on daywatch wanted to, but someone had to stay behind and "walk the wall." We are still grieving, still coping with the bitter irony of your being taken from us this way. Our first duty to those we have lost in the line of duty is to remember. In your memory I renew my vow to always be a protector of and advocate for victims of domestic violence in my community

Jennifer, we honor your service to your community as a law enforcement officer and you will always be remembered and revered. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of our entire family, I wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Jennifer was killed in the line of duty. May her loved ones continue to be supported by their law enforcement family and other police survivors. Our family grieves with you and for you. To her family, you are in my heart's embrace today. I pray for the emotional healing for all who called Jennifer beloved.

I was so saddened to learn of the loss of this young officer still in the early stages of her law enforcement career and know what a devastating blow her loss is to her family and her agency, especially given the circumstances which have left two families that loved Jennifer heartbroken and bewildered.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Jennifer gave to her community and the citizens of Wisconsin, and the supreme sacrifice she and her family made on December 24, 2012.

I just heard of Jennifer's death from a friend at my church last night. Her sister is a police officer. My husband is a police chaplain in Plymouth, MN. My husband and I have a special love for those in law enforcement. We are so saddened by this murder and the loss of a servant whose life was committed to protecting and serving others. May God grant His comfort and peace to the family. I am praying for you.

While I did not know you, I was a member of your department in the early 2000's as a Reserve Officer. When I heard that you had fallen, it struck me as if I was still there. I knew many of the officers that you served with and so I say this knowing that it is true. You may stand down officer, Your fellow officers have your watch from here.

Officer Sebena, thank you so much for your service. I truly wish that I, and others, could fully convey to your family and friends how much you mean to the entire law enforcement and criminal justice community, but I will at least say that while you were taken far before your time, I am positive that you touched so many lives in a profoundly positive way that you did more than many do in their entire lives. You lived as a hero and will forever be remembered as one. Thank you so incredibly much!

You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. You are 10-42 from Wauwatosa streets, 10-41 on the streets of heaven.

Rest in peace officer Sebena. Thank you for your service. I pray the lord will ease your family's suffering and hope they and your extended family in blue find peace and comfort. I also hope your cowardly husband has an unfortunate accident in his cell. It sickens me how the papers called him a heroic former Marine. Scumbag is a more suitable
title.

Jen,
It was a pleasure to work with you and I thank God that we were able to have that last conversation with each other about our faith. Little did I know that it would be the last, but I can rest easy knowing that it was not goodbye, just until I see you again. My prayers are with Jen's family and with all of the Sebenas.

Officer Sebena, To be absent from the body is to be in the presence of the Lord. Rest well.

To Your Family,
Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray, “Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with loving, caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name, Amen”

I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for 212 months. Feel those prayers. God is with you, He knows and will ease your pain.
