On behalf of the men and women of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office (MD), I wish to take this opportunity to express our deepest and most sincere sympathy in the loss of Cpl. Gogian and Officer Atherly. I’m proud to say I trained members of the Topeka Police Department and the Shawnee County District Attorney's Office.
Despite our full awareness of the great risks associated with policing, it continues to shock us when we learn another officer has been killed in the line of duty. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of these brave men and the personnel of the Topeka Police department.
With Sincere Sympathy, I remain Sheriff Michael A. Lewis, Wicomico County, Maryland.
