It Deeply Saddened me to hear of David's Tragic Passing. Dave was a Good Person and an Outstanding Meteorological Technician. I was one of his couterparts from another Air National Guard Weather Unit. I always looked forward to seeing him and being around him during our conferences and training workshops. He was always cheerful and had jokes. He always had positive things to say and offered words of encouragement when it came to dealing with the difficulties involved with our positions. Truly a person who dedicated himself to HELPING and PROTECTING as evidence of his joining the police force after a long outstanding military career.
I offer my Deepest Condolences to his Family, Friends and Relatives and My Thoughts and Prayers are with You All.

Our Greatest Fear
Yet once again the Thin Blue Line is diminished,
an officer’s final tour of duty is finished.
"Officer down", it’s our greatest fear,
and once again, I hold back a tear.
They patrol in the state, city, county and town,
in uniforms colored white, green, blue and brown.
The shape of their badges may vary,
but it’s a symbol that they all, proudly carry.
They leave for work with a kiss goodbye,
but some don’t come home, no matter how hard they try.
To uphold the law is the job that they pick,
with such high aspirations, why must some die so quick?
They leave behind loved ones, family and friends,
after their lives have met tragic ends.
Some die in crashes, others hearts not too stout,
to many have been lost when gunshots ring out.
Our Heavenly Father has called them home,
no more these dark streets do they roam.
Through trial and error they have given their best,
please Lord, now grant them eternal rest.
Yet once again the Thin Blue Line is diminished,
an officer’s final tour of duty is finished.
"Officer down", it’s our greatest fear,
and once again I hold back a tear.

The quiet of the night was broken by the sound of gunfire. Now two officers lay dead. This should never happen to those who protect and serve us as our first line of defense against crime. No matter how many times this happens, the feelings don't change whether active or retired law enforcement. We have all lost brothers. Unfortunately this time it was a Masonic brother also. Rest in peace my brother. Your duty is done.

David, we honor your service to your community as a law enforcement officer and you will always be remembered and revered. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of our entire family, I wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when David was killed in the line of duty. May his loved ones continue to be supported by their law enforcement family and other police survivors. Our family grieves with you and for you. To his family, you are in my heart's embrace today. I pray for the emotional healing for all who called David beloved.
I am sure it was a devastating blow for the family, the department, and the community to have lost two heroes to senseless violence. I also thank Corporal Gogian for his service to our country for serving in the military.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Corporal Gogian gave to his community and the citizens of Kansas, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on December 16, 2012.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"
