Though I did not know Ricky, I do know what he stood for, whenever we pin on the badge we hoped to make a better world for our families, friends and the public, and we do it unselfishly. Last year I lost my dad (Jerry Hicks Sr.) in a single vehicle accident (while on duty 12/4/11). My heart goes out to the family, friends and the department for the trajic loss. My prayers will be with all of you.

For the short time that I got to know you Ricky it was a blessing. I remember the first time you introduced yourself to me, it was then that I knew you would be a great asset to our department. You will be truly missed. I know you will be watching over us somewhat still patrolling the streets of Natchitoches Parish. Until we meet again my brother, there will always be a place for you in my heart.

Standing at attention in their class “A“ uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place. As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say its ok you’re with your eternal partners. A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.

My heart goes out to his family and the department. I live in New Meadows, Idaho and 3 years and 5 months ago my son Deputy Monte Leroy Matthews was killed in an automobile accident. It was devastating to the county and to his family. My brother is a city police in Natchitoches La. His name is officer Danny Donica. I talked to him this morning about the accident. It brought back a lot of memories of his nephew Leroy. My prayers are going your way for his family and his department. Please if there is anything I can help with let me know. It's going to be a long hard road for all of you. God be with you in your journey and know my heart is with you. I am so sorry. We have another hero in heaven to watch over us. Thank you Deputy Issac for your exceptional service and god be with your family. If anyone wants to talk to me I am on facebook as Dee Matthews in New Meadows, Idaho. God Bless you all!
