I have laid down my life in service to all of you.
I have been a part of the fabric that has held the line between your safety and your victimization.
As I now become a part of the rich history of law enforcement, please remember me always for I have left behind those who loved and depended upon me.
I have given my life so that others may live in peace.
My partners and my agency, please remember my family, their loss, and don’t let time soften your compassion for them.
You guard the gate now and I will continue my watch from above.

MAY YOU REST IN PEACE AND MAY YOUR FAMILY FIND COMFORT IN THE GOOD YOU HAVE DONE HERE ON EARTH.

For Police Officer James Davies:

The potential for injury or death remains high for the law officer, and especially for the officer on patrol. The situations that can occur are as countless as the number of officers on the street. When the worst happens the tragedy is compounded when one officer shoots another by mistake. The grief and the shock is intensified beyond imagination for those involved. Further, it renders the shooter to a state of numbness that hardly no amount of time can bring about full and complete healing. We should all learn from this horrible situation.
Sadly, despite continual training, it is almost sure to happen again. We regret that our brother Jim would be the next casualty in such a dreadfully terrible set of circumstances,

We pray for Jim's family, friends, co-workers, and all who care about him. May they be prepared to reach-out to one another in the days ahead. Further, we pray for understanding and forgiveness when it possibly might seem difficult to prevail. Yet it simply must.

We are proud to render Officer James Davies, a soldier-of-the-law, a final salute.

Cpl. Ralph D. Fiorenza (Ret.)
Pennsylvania State Police
