August marks 100 years since Sheriff Boles was killed in the line of duty. The Taney County 100 Club would like to honor Sheriff Boles by dedicating a 'Heroes Way' street in his name in Hollister, MO (where he lost his life). We are seeking permission from his grandchildren but have been unsuccessful in contacting them. I see great grandchildren posting - please reach out to us at www.taneycounty100club.com if we can help honor your great grandfather.

Ray Lambeth is his only surviving daughter. N.D. Bowles had 5 boys and 1 daughter. He also had two step daughters. His daughter Ray is currently 105 years old living in Idaho with her daughter Pat. His daughter Ray talks about her dad and the day he was killed with great detail. Ray was 7 years old when her dad was killed. She remembers him as a fun and loving father. He was a very kind man and the community loved him. He was well respected and was serving a second term as sheriff when he was killed. His first wife died and left him with 5 boys to raise. He married a few years later to Janey Ray Praither who had two girls from a previous marriage. Ray is the only daughter of N.D. And Janey. N.D. loved to fish, hunt and play the fiddle.

Newton Dangerfield Boles was one of my heroes when i was a boy after being told that he was a sheriff and that he was killed by a bank robber.Playing "cops and robbers" and watching westerns on t.v. is what us guys do when were kids. The imagery of horseback chases with guns blazing going after the bad guy vanished when as an adult i read the they were in cars and that he was killed with a cheap semi-auto pistol! My mother was born just short of a yr. after he was killed. He left behind six kids. We all missed knowing a very kind, honorable man.
Praise all who fallow in this work. they deserve it!

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 89th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
