It is unfortunate that we have to have someone to watch over and contain these wild animal-like "humans." It takes a lot of courage to perform this kind of duty, and Sergeant Ricard paid the ultimate price to keep the rest of us safe. My condolences go out to Sergeant Ricard's family. I know you will feel her loss very hard, but please know that her sacrifice was not in vain.

Words are not easy to come by at a time like this. I wish their were words that could comfort the family, friends and the entire Correctional Dept of Colorado. I feel loss and I never met her. You that did know her can take pride in the fact that you were her family, friend or co-worker and that you did know her in some capacity. I will not weep for Sgt Ricards death, yet I will Thank God that a woman like her existed. Rest Easy sister, rest easy.
