ITS SOUNDS LIKE THUNDER FAR AWAY...
It sounds like thunder far away, but the skies are blue and bright...
And soon they crest the hill nearby, and ride into our sight.
They shake the ground with powerful sound, and they make some hearts beat fast...
They look so proud and noble, like Knights come from the past.
Side by side, they always ride, and seem to move as one...
From early in the morning light, to the setting of the sun.
And children point and wave to them, from cars that pass them by...
And young ones ask their parents, why the men have mirrors for eyes.
They ride the roads, and fight for good, and defend small ones like you...
They ask to ride, and do with pride, and sometimes they are few.
Like men of steel, on Silver Wings, they sparkle in the light...
then with a roar and rumble, they ride out of our sight.
Sometimes when one has fallen, never to ride again...
You can hear the others calling, like thunder on the wind.
Side by side, they slowly ride, and their thunder is a mournful sound...
And the mirrors hide their eyes from us, when teardrops fall to ground.
So if you see one riding, and you look into his face...
You see your reflection in his eyes, you know that you are safe.
For motormen are a special breed, they love to ride the wind...
And when you hear the thunder boom, the fallen ones ride again.

Bruce and family, thanks for allowing us all the opportunity to be a part of your extended family.
I enjoyed the quick moments we had together, even sharing my "Friday Mojo" with you as we passed during shift change. And who could forget the restaurant detail you always worked on Friday nights. It was as if you were the "Unofficial Mayor of Jupiter", greeting all who passed through the front door with a smile, wave or a kind handshake.
It is those times we take for granted, but will never forget.
Thank you for being such a great person, your dedication and friendship to those around you will be missed forever. Our community has lost a true hero.....
Rest in Peace my brother

To the members of the Jupiter Police Department and to the Wife, children and extended family of Officer Bruce St. Laurent...
I am so sorry for your loss and you are in my thoughts and in my heart daily. Hopefully in time the pain will lessen and the numbness will subside. I hope it comforts you (even if only a little) knowing that your loved one died doing what he truly loved. I did not know him but from what I have read here and have heard here at work he was very respected, loved, truly great at what he did, and will never be forgotten.

Bruce:
And yet another brother goes down in the line of duty. In 32 years of law enforcment, 28 of them with the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office, it never ceases to upset me to hear of another of us making the supreme sacrifice. But you left footprints in the sand for others to follow and admire. In particular, your children. Rest in peace knowing we have the watch, and be safe in the arms of God Almighty. Amen

Bruce, I met you almost 10 years ago and you always had a big smile on your face. You were a fixture around the town and the thought of not seeing you anymore on the streets of Jupiter breaks my heart.
Rest now brother as we will take it from here.

Having the opportunity to have known someone like you was a blessing. Often we take for granted that great people we know will always be there, and when you’re gone, only then do we reflect and realize what a wonderful person you were. Seeing the faces of the officers here who knew you the best is a difficult thing to experience. You are one of those rare, selfless people who gave so much of himself to others. Thanks for all you gave us Bruce. You will be missed my friend, rest in peace brother.

I have laid down my life in service to all of you.
I have been a part of the fabric that has held the line between your safety and your victimization.
As I now become a part of the rich history of law enforcement, please remember me always for I have left behind those who loved and depended upon me.
I have given my life so that others may live in peace.
My partners and my agency, please remember my family, their loss, and don’t let time soften your compassion for them.
You guard the gate now and I will continue my watch from above.
MAY YOU REST IN PEACE AND MAY YOUR FAMILY FIND COMFORT IN THE GOOD YOU HAVE DONE HERE ON EARTH.

At a moment like this silence seems to be the only expression that fits. What can we as mere men, say to a shattered and grieving heart? We speak today because we have a living hope.
Death is no respecter of persons. Death is a painful intruder, and a pernicious reminder of our human condition.
You see, our hope today is found in the fact that Jesus in no longer entombed. And because he lives, Bruce lives.
Because he lives the grieving broken heart has hope and reason to rejoice. Bruce, many of us will be at your side this Friday to honor you, your service and your life.
From your brothers and sisters at the Martin County Sheriff's Office...God bless you and your family.
